If you ever feel weighted down, even though you know God is pulling you to new levels? You may want to examine the environment around you.
When I say this, I mean that you may want to examine people, objects, your job, habits, and anything that would be a hindrance to your Godly walk. I can recall my former
Pastor saying in Bible Study one day that if anything got in the way of
His anointing it had to go. He instructed us to guard our anointing. He
could not emphasize the importance of guarding that special time you
spend before the Lord. The time you spend in a relationship with God governs maintaining your anointing. While he was saying this, all I could do was to amen him because I had spent years ridding myself of
dead weight by staying in God's prescence.
I remember when God began to really call me out to new levels. He was asking me to be different and dared me to get to know Him. Though saved, I did not know Him on this level. But when God began
to tug at me, He said this new walk would require some sacrificing. I
would have to sacrifice even greater than before to press to new levels. So as God began to show me dead weight in my life, I realized a lot that I thought was okay was weighing me down. I began to examine friends and their lack of desire to see more of God. I was not judging
them but wanted to know where they were with wanting new levels in
God. These friends were not only the unsaved either. As I examined
close friends that I loved dearly, I found that I had to love some from a
far. Sad as it may seem, many were not willing to elevate in the Lord
and I was beginning to have less in common with them.I did not think I was better than they were; I just wanted more for my life. They wanted to waddle in the same old dirt when I wanted God to cleanse
me. I wanted to be whole. It began to seem as if I thought I was holier
than thou, according to their philosophy. But this was not the case; I
just wanted more from God.
