Midwestern Name.... National Appeal!!
I ask this question because there seems to be more jealousy coming from the sons and daughters of God than celebration. I know I am often accused of being very “ministry” naïve, but aren’t we all fighting the same enemy, the devil?
If God called you to ministry was it to compete with your fellow ministers of the gospel or did He call you to “Go and make disciples of all nations?” (Matt 28: 19-20) We are SUPPOSED to be on the SAME team. To be frank, The only Big I is the Triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and we, as His sons and daughters are ALL Little You’s in comparison to the Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Sovereign God. The only spirit that gets glory from the jealousy and fighting among the brethren is the devil.
We are neither honoring nor glorifying God when we the EKKLESIA turn jealous eyes and hearts towards one another instead of celebrating the gift(s) that God has placed in each of us. The truth be told, we should be doing ALL things for an audience of One….GOD. People will celebrate and shout over a message that tickles their ears but if God is not pleased, that message will not produce the everlasting reward that we should be working towards. (1 Cor 3:5-15)
Whether the pews are lit up in praise, the alter is covered with tearful worshipers or the crickets can be heard during a preached sermon, my goal is to hear Him say, “Well done my good and faithful servant….”(Mat 25:14-30) What is your goal? Why do you minister? If you NEED the praise of others, or the shouts from the pews to make you FEEL important, then you are in jeopardy of having or developing a Saul like spirit. (1 Samuel 18:7-9)

Salutations Minister Thomas,
It is imperative that we remember that it is neither he who plants [who] is anythig, nor he who waters, but GOD who gives the increase. He who plants and he who waters are "one", and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor (reference 1 Corinthans 3:7,8).
Ephesians 4:16 lets us know that the whole body is joined and knit "together" by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share.
Now, I plead with you, Louisville, by the name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, that we all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among us, but that we be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgement (reference 1 Corithians 1:10).

Permalink Reply by Minister Enrica Thomas on July 21, 2011 at 12:18pm Praise the Lord Minister James! I agree! How do you think WE the church should rid ourselves of this demonic infiltration? Do you think that it is just the Pastor's job or should the entire body take up the charge to FIRST, SELF CORRECT and then to challenge others when we come into contact with this Saul LIKE spirit? Just curious!
Yes there is a Saul spirit in the church, on 2 level to me. 1st you have these small church's verses the mega church's. Army we all supposed to be saving souls?
Then it gets real bad because some mega church's don't utilize the gifts that God has given to a new member from a small church, and that person uses the mega church and does nothing but sit back and may not even attend the church services on a regular basis. But the want say in eberything that goes on??
On the 2nd front, in a church that has more than 1 choir? It is funny how we would be in competition for members but bringing each other down with words, looks and rud remarks!!
So to answer the question I do think that the Saul spirit runs in the church, and we as saints of God need to start speaking those things out of our church's in the name of Jesus!!

Permalink Reply by Minister Enrica Thomas on July 21, 2011 at 4:51pm Minister James---Praise the Lord for Accountability! You get a hearty Amen there brother! This maybe another example of my naivety but I believe there is a difference between succumbing to a Saul like spirit and being in awe of someone’s gift.
For me, I can hear a woman of God sing under the anointing and I will say, “Man I wish I could sing like that.” or “If I could only sing like that!” I can hear a man or woman of God preach under the anointing of God and think, “Why didn’t I see that before?” or “If I could break the word down like that!”
But that is VERY different than the Saul like spirit that says, “I can’t do that so I am going to kill off anyone who can.” Or it will assassinate the testimony of the man or woman of God with things like, “Yeah, but they still smoke or Yeah but they still have a nasty attitude with people or Yeah but I heard they still don’t pay their tithes.” I mean it could be whatever that individual continues to struggle with. That is the spirit I wish to help eradicate from among the brethren.
What happened to taking our lead from Phil 4:8? "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things."
The bible warns us: How can two walk together unless they agree? (Amos 3:3)
I so desire for the body of Christ to be on one accord (Acts 1:14) so that we can get to the kingdom business of putting devils to flight, (Deut 32:30) instead of fighting each other and putting our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to flight. I believe in celebrating victories and encouraging people to fulfill their God-given purpose in life. Just think, what would our churches look like, if we ALL took that same approach? Man I get chills just thinking about it!
Well I think first we as the lay ministers, need to come into agreement
With the pastors and deacons as to what is and isn't tolerated. Cause in the
church we don't hold each other accountable for the ministries we are over.
But to answer your question I really don't know how to get rid of that spirit,
cause at times we all have that spirit to some degree??
What do u think??

Permalink Reply by Minister Enrica Thomas on July 25, 2011 at 2:20pm I agree Min James, there are many "wanna-be heads" in the body of Christ, however that should be even MORE motivation for those who are "body restorers" to encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ in finding and fulling their purposes rather than trying to walk in someone else's purpose. If we would ever understand that filling our God ordained purpose will give us the most fulfillment in life, then we will stop trying to be someone else. Unfortunately the devil has been very effective in convincing many in the church into believing that, "unless they are on a platform they are not doing anything for God or they don't matter." But the problem with that is, the reason he got kicked out of heaven is because he was trying to be someone he wasn't. He wanted to be God, actually he said that he would exalt his throne even higher than God. (Is 14:13-14). So which father are we mimicking when we attempt to exalt ourselves? (Jn 8:38-44) Whether it is a mega church or a store front, if the focus is on ANYTHING other than Jesus, it is a waste of time and a plot and plan of the devil to distract and deter us from the things of God.
Be Blessed in the Lord!

But the problem with that Apostle is that we don't see each others as brothers and sisters in Christ!
We are so separate on so many points that not every church preaches Jesus resurrection from the dead.
That why some still have him on a cross??
Yes I agree with u that we are all 1 body, but as in the human body the parts know what role they play, but as far as the body of Christ we allwant to be the head!!
